The Promise of Justice Campaign: Fundraising and Recruitment

Alexander Hamilton stated a truism that has sustained our country for over two hundred and twenty years – The first duty of society is justice.

For the first time in Arkansas’s history, the legal community is joining together with citizens from across the State for the sole purpose of organizing a statewide fundraising and pro bono recruitment campaign. It is called the Promise of Justice Campaign. Under the auspices of the Arkansas Access to Justice Commission, this effort is designed to support the two legal aid providers in our state: Center for Arkansas Legal Services and Legal Aid of Arkansas.

These providers, who cover all 75 counties, are limited in seeking justice for those most in need - the poor - because of a lack of resources. A national study has identified an 80% gap between legal needs of the poor and the ability to meet those needs. This campaign will help close that gap in Arkansas.

The Promise of Justice Campaign is two-pronged. The first goal is to raise funds which support expanding the efforts of legal aid in our state. The second goal is to increase the number of pro bono participants around the state so that the work of legal aid can be extended by the skills and talents of a larger segment of our profession.

Please help us bring the Promise of Justice to all Arkansans. Volunteer and donate today.
